Can a 100 Amp Panel Handle an Induction Range?
Usually yes — it gets tight if your cooking, drying and water heating are electric. With an induction range on 100 A service, an example 1,500 ft² home reaches about 67 A (green) with gas appliances and 83 A (yellow) with an electric range, dryer and water heater (NEC® 220.83).
That leaves about 33 A free in the gas home and 17 A in the electric one. In the electric home the new unit replaces the old one, so the load barely changes. Your own numbers — home size and which appliances are electric — decide the result.

Add an energy management system
A listed load manager or circuit-sharing device keeps one large load (a hot tub, water heater or dryer) off while others run. Ask your electrician which load it could manage.
Upgrade the panel or service
A main panel replacement in a single-family home had a median cost of about $3,500 in a 2025 national survey. If the service itself must grow, utility-side costs add a similar median amount, and rewiring can push totals to $30,000 or more.

Questions
Does an induction range use more power than an electric range?
For the load calculation they’re treated the same: by nameplate, or 12,000 VA by default. Replacing an electric range with induction usually changes little; replacing gas adds a new load.
Can I get induction without a 240 V circuit?
Some 120 V induction ranges with built-in batteries exist and plug into a standard outlet. Check the manufacturer’s circuit requirements before you buy.
Why is the calculated load lower than my breakers add up to?
Breakers are sized to protect wires, not to describe what runs at once. The NEC® load calculation starts from floor area, kitchen and laundry circuits and appliance nameplates, then applies demand factors.
How accurate is this estimate?
It follows the NEC® 220.83 method with the numbers you enter. Defaults stand in for unknown nameplates, so treat it as an estimate; a licensed electrician and your inspector make the final call.
